Advice on shielding
This link takes you to the guidance from NHS Scotland.
Informing those who are vulnerable
Information from affected patients and immunology centres indicates that PID patients were contacted individually about their risk status and given any necessary recommendations to shield.
As of the 27th April Genetic Alliance UK received confirmation from Scottish Government that shielding advice letters have now been issued, and if not already delivered, should be received within the coming days – see https://covid-19.geneticalliance.org.uk/news/shielding-letter-information/
If people are still unsure of their risk status the Scottish Government is recommending that they send an email to this address
[email protected], along with their full name and address.
Use of face masks
The Scottish Government states that ‘given that the evidence of impact on transmission is relatively weak, the public use of facial coverings is not being made mandatory and will not be enforced at this stage.’

Help resources
The Scottish Government has set up a new national helpline to provide
essential assistance to those who do not have a network of support but
who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19.
The helpline – 0800 111 4000 and will initially operate during core working hours of 09:00 to 17:00.
Food deliveries by supermarkets
UK wide feedback indicates that some people in the highly vulnerable group are still finding it difficult to access on-line shopping services for all the major supermarkets even though the big players are stating this group are high priority customers. The system in England of supermarkets recognising people as highly vulnerable person through a Government registration scheme does not appear to be working in Scotland.
Supermarkets are not the only answer of course. Lots of butchers and greengrocers, have started doing local deliveries so look them up online or just give them a ring.
