Trekking challenges

If you are looking for a spectacular challenge to accomplish for yourself and PID UK, then read on to discover our exhilarating, but demanding, trek suggestions.

There are many companies offering these challenges so don't let our list limit what you want to do and who you want to work with.

Location: Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Weekend represents a challenge for the keenest of walkers. To scale three mountains in two days is no mean feat and provides an exhilarating and demanding trek in some of the most spectacular countryside England has to offer.

This region was shaped by glaciers many thousands of years ago, and there are plenty of geological landmarks – striking limestone outcrops and unusual rock formations – to pique our interest as we walk. We will also see the famous Ribblehead Viaduct en route, which is part of the scenic Settle to Carlisle railway line.

This is a tough and rewarding weekend in steep, rugged country, offering an unforgettable sense of achievement.

Location: Poole Harbour to Bridport

Dorset’s Jurassic Coast provides a stunning setting, with some glorious views en route.

Location: Scotland

Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation ‘Mountain of Heaven’) is the highest point in Scotland and the British Isles, standing at the lofty height of 1343m (roughly 4000ft). Fort William, on the southern edge of the Great Glen and located on a sea loch, is our base for the weekend. This is a long, arduous, uphill trek that will provide you with a wonderful sense of achievement when you reflect on what you have done.

Location: Costa Rica

Our adventurous coast to coast rainforest trek involves crossing from Costa Rica’s Pacific coast to the Caribbean. En route you take in the country’s highest active volcano, as we trek from coffee plantations and oak forests into dense, tropical rainforest.

Costa Rica’s cloudforests and rainforests are justifiably world-famous for their diversity, and this is a wonderful opportunity to experience one of the world’s most incredible ecosystems. You will see colourful butterflies and tiny tree frogs, and will hear howler monkeys and exotic bird calls as we trek.

This is a tough, strenuous challenge over a range of wild terrain – it’s adventurous, rewarding and a world away from the norm!
